Campaign operations
AI Agent for Marketing
Connect campaign claims, bilingual assets, approval and measurement before giving a marketing agent publishing or spending authority.
A marketing agent can generate 100 variations of a message and still fail the campaign. If the offer is unavailable, the Arabic landing page promises something different or the campaign attracts people the sales team cannot serve, faster production has amplified the wrong work. The useful unit of automation is a controlled campaign decision, with evidence connecting the audience, claim, asset and intended outcome.
This guide is for marketing directors, campaign managers and content operations teams who need reliable coordination across research, creative preparation, review and measurement. It focuses on campaign operations. Customer discovery belongs to market research; an agent should not replace evidence about demand with its own plausible audience description.
Choose the campaign decision before the content volume
Start with a question that someone currently answers through several systems: which approved offer fits this audience, which assets need updating, why did a campaign miss its qualified-enquiry target, or what can be released after a product change? Define the inputs and the decision owner. “Produce more content” does not tell the agent which claims are true or which actions it may take.
A useful initial scope is campaign preparation. The agent reads an approved brief, retrieves current product facts, assembles channel drafts and flags gaps for review. A broader scope may include scheduling approved assets or proposing budget changes. Each additional action needs a separate authority rule. Reading performance data does not imply permission to pause campaigns or spend money.
Make the campaign’s constraints explicit: offer validity, stock or delivery capacity, audience eligibility, geography, language, exclusions, approved claims and the owner of each. Constraints should be machine-checkable where possible. Free-text brand guidance can shape tone, but a deterministic release check should verify that the dates and offer identifiers match the approved brief.
Worked design: a professional training campaign
Illustrative scenario: a training provider plans a webinar that introduces a paid workshop for maintenance supervisors. The webinar is open to interested professionals, while the workshop requires prior technical experience and has 24 available places. The campaign goal is suitable workshop enquiries, not the largest registration count.
The agent receives the approved workshop description, instructor biography, eligibility criteria, schedule and booking status. It prepares an Arabic landing page draft, an English email draft and a short advertisement. It must not turn “attendance certificate” into “professional certification”, claim that places guarantee employment or present the webinar as the paid workshop. These distinctions belong in the claim record before creative production begins.
The campaign owner approves a message about practical maintenance planning. A reviewer notices that one Arabic asset implies hands-on equipment training, although the workshop uses classroom exercises. The agent should trace that claim to its source, fail the release check and correct every affected asset. Changing only the landing page leaves an inconsistent customer journey if the advertisement retains the stronger promise.
When 20 of the 24 workshop places are booked, the agent can flag capacity pressure and prepare a different call to action. It should not announce “four places left” unless the booking source is sufficiently current and the business authorises that claim. Reservations, cancellations and group bookings can change availability. An approved waitlist message may be a more dependable choice.
A claim-to-asset release sheet
Use a release sheet to connect the campaign’s promises to the actual evidence and assets. It is a practical control for teams whose content spans languages, channels and agencies. The agent maintains references; accountable reviewers approve the claims and the release.
| Claim or constraint | Authoritative input | Release check |
|---|---|---|
| Workshop outcome | Approved curriculum and learning objectives | No unsupported certification or employment promise |
| Format | Classroom exercise plan | Arabic and English assets describe the same experience |
| Eligibility | Required prior technical experience | Landing page explains who the workshop suits |
| Capacity | Current booking source; 24 total places | Availability claims checked immediately before release |
| Tracking | Approved campaign and offer identifiers | Links retain the correct identifiers through the booking journey |
| Approval | Named content and campaign owners | Approval applies to the exact asset version being published |
Add a withdrawal rule to the sheet. If the instructor changes or the workshop is rescheduled, identify the assets that must be paused, edited or superseded. Store the published version and approval record. An editable document labelled “final” is not a dependable release record when several people can change it after approval.
Paid-media recommendations need a separate execution boundary
The Google Ads API documentation distinguishes retrieving, applying and dismissing recommendations, with automatic application available for specified types through subscriptions. Those are different operations. Connecting an agent to recommendation data is not evidence that it should automatically apply every suggestion.
For a proposed change, show the current state, requested change, affected campaigns, spend boundary and reason. A budget increase intended to fill a workshop can be inappropriate when capacity is almost exhausted. The release gate should recheck current constraints, not rely on a campaign brief retrieved several days earlier.
Set cumulative limits as well as limits per action. Several individually small increases can exceed the approved campaign budget. Use idempotent requests and read back the platform state after an accepted change. If the request times out, reconcile its status before retrying. Keep an approved reversal procedure, recognising that pausing a campaign cannot recover money already spent.
If the business only needs a recommendation pack, leave publishing and spending outside scope. The distinction between an assistive and autonomous agent should be settled by the consequence of each action, not a preference for impressive demonstrations.
Arabic adaptation is a campaign review task
A literal translation can preserve words while changing the promise. Review eligibility, dates, units, prices, certificate terminology and the strength of the call to action in both languages. Keep a bilingual claim glossary approved by the subject owner. A glossary should constrain important terms while allowing natural phrasing for the audience.
Test the complete journey: advertisement, landing page, form validation, confirmation and sales follow-up. A user should not discover a new condition after submitting their details. Arabic form labels need usable error messages and clear treatment of mixed-script names and company terms. Where content is tailored for different audiences, record the business reason rather than assuming all Arabic readers share the same needs.
The Arabic-native agent guide covers broader language evaluation. For marketing, the distinctive acceptance test is whether the same person would understand the same offer and obligations after reading either language version.
Measure qualified demand and the cost of correction
Define the funnel before launch: reached audience, visits, valid registrations, attendance, eligible enquiries and accepted sales opportunities. Deduplicate people and organisations at the appropriate stage. A person attending twice should not automatically become two qualified leads. Track the time between stages so late conversions are not compared with a cohort that has had more time to mature.
Illustrative calculation: a campaign spends SAR 6,000 and generates 120 registrations. If 60 attend and 18 meet the agreed enquiry criteria, cost per registration is SAR 50, while cost per qualified enquiry is about SAR 333.33. If only 9 of those enquiries become accepted sales opportunities, the corresponding cost is about SAR 666.67. These are different denominators, not competing descriptions of the same result.
Those figures do not prove the agent caused improvement. Compare against a suitable baseline or controlled experiment, accounting for audience, offer, spend and seasonality. Count review time, corrected claims, rejected assets and integration costs. A draft produced in seconds can still be expensive if a specialist must reconstruct every source.
Keep channel attribution separate from causal contribution. The last tracked click may identify where a conversion was recorded without explaining why it happened. For revenue handoff, agree the qualification definition with the sales team’s agent workflow so marketing does not optimise for a field that sales routinely rejects.
Prevent content drift as the campaign changes
Campaigns evolve. A revised price, changed venue or retired feature should trigger a review of dependent assets. Maintain a dependency list from source facts to published content, including translated assets and scheduled drafts. Do not ask the model to remember every place a claim appeared; store that relationship explicitly.
Build evaluation cases around misleading but plausible language: an unapproved superlative, a comparison without evidence, a shortened disclaimer that changes meaning and a creative suggestion that conflicts with capacity. Include a source document containing instructions to bypass review. Retrieved documents provide evidence; they should not acquire authority to change the release policy.
Monitor failures at the claim level as well as the asset level. Ten assets sharing one unsupported statement are one root cause with ten exposures. The audit trail should allow a reviewer to find the source, generated versions, approvals and published destinations quickly. This is what makes a correction manageable.
Bring the campaign’s evidence to the first scope discussion
A custom marketing agent can be scoped around preparation, review coordination, measurement or tightly authorised execution. The appropriate integrations and controls depend on the systems and responsibilities agreed for the project. The first useful deliverable is often a traceable campaign pack with fewer unresolved assumptions.
Request information about a campaign-operations agent with a redacted brief, one Arabic and one English asset, the approval path and a funnel report. Include an example of a claim or offer that changed after launch; it reveals whether the proposed workflow can maintain accuracy when the campaign is already live.
