Fees and scope
Agentic AI Consulting Pricing
Compare advisory fees through deliverables, evidence depth and buyer effort, with dated public SAR examples.
An agentic AI consulting fee buys a defined improvement in a business decision: which workflow deserves investment, what evidence is missing, who may authorise automated actions, or whether a programme should proceed. A useful quotation makes that decision explicit. A day rate alone cannot tell a procurement team whether the work includes interviews, data inspection, a defensible recommendation or only a presentation.
This guide is for Saudi business owners, finance leaders and procurement teams comparing advisory proposals. Open for AI publishes it and also provides consulting and implementation services. The external prices below are dated examples of public offers, not an independent market survey or Open for AI quotations.
What publicly advertised prices actually tell you
Checked on 22 October 2026, SkyElevate lists an AI Opportunity Audit from SAR 7,500, with the final fee depending on scope and process count. It describes a credit towards its implementation work. NLAI lists an AI Readiness Assessment from SAR 24,500 and an AI Strategy & Transformation Roadmap from SAR 49,500; its proposal confirms scope, final fees and applicable taxes. These are different suppliers and different offers.
Do not turn those observations into a SAR 7,500–49,500 market price band. The low and high figures do not purchase identical work, and neither establishes the price of an enterprise transformation. An advertised starting fee is useful for finding a conversation that fits a budget; it does not replace an agreed specification. Check the supplier's current page and written proposal before relying on the figures.
Separate five things that can be called an AI assessment
| Purchase | Decision it supports | Evidence to ask for |
|---|---|---|
| Executive session | Is this issue worth investigating? | Recorded assumptions, options and recommended next questions |
| Workflow discovery | Which process has a credible opportunity? | Observed workflow, baseline and prioritisation rationale |
| Readiness assessment | Can the organisation support the proposed use case? | Evidence-backed gaps, owners and blocking dependencies |
| Strategy and investment roadmap | What should be funded and in what order? | Alternatives, investment assumptions and sequenced decisions |
| Programme advisory | How should leadership respond as evidence changes? | Decision records, challenge of exceptions and refreshed recommendations |
The same engagement can combine several purchases, but combining them increases the evidence and coordination required. For example, a readiness conclusion based only on executive interviews is narrower than one that inspects representative data, confirms access with system owners and tests a critical integration assumption. Ask the supplier to state which version it is selling. The readiness assessment guide explains the substance behind that distinction.
Price the boundaries before negotiating the fee
List the business units, workflows, systems, data classes, languages and decision makers inside the engagement. A Saudi group with three subsidiaries may require separate access agreements and sponsor interviews even when the workflows look similar. Arabic and English source material can require separate evaluation samples and stakeholder sessions. These are workload questions to price explicitly, not reasons to attach an unexplained regional premium.
Define the depth of evidence inspection. Reviewing a process diagram differs from observing work. Reading a vendor security summary differs from evaluating the underlying control evidence. A consultant should identify where conclusions rely on supplied information and where they independently examine it. If evidence is unavailable, the deliverable should record uncertainty and the next test rather than quietly presenting an assumption as a finding.
State the buyer's contribution too. Who schedules interviews, extracts authorised samples, explains the ERP, checks financial assumptions and reviews the draft? A low supplier fee can depend on substantial internal work. That work still consumes capacity even when it does not create an additional invoice.
A worked comparison of two illustrative proposals
Assume a distributor needs to decide whether to automate supplier exception handling. These invented figures demonstrate comparison mechanics; they are not typical Saudi rates. Proposal A costs SAR 48,000 and requires 90 internal hours. Proposal B costs SAR 62,000 and requires 35 internal hours because its scope includes more evidence preparation. Value internal time at an illustrative SAR 200 per hour.
A's decision cost is 48,000 + (90 × 200) = SAR 66,000. B's is 62,000 + (35 × 200) = SAR 69,000. The apparent SAR 14,000 supplier difference becomes SAR 3,000 on this capacity-adjusted view. This is not automatically a reason to choose B: determine whether the extra work produces usable evidence, whether internal staff could do it better and whether the hourly valuation reflects opportunity cost rather than cash that will actually be saved.
Now suppose A excludes a necessary interface assessment, later quoted at SAR 8,000. Its comparable total becomes SAR 74,000, assuming the original internal hours remain valid. The lesson is to compare a common decision boundary before comparing prices. Keep tax, travel, third-party licences and subsequent build costs as separate lines rather than mixing included and excluded amounts.
What belongs in a consulting quotation
- Decision and deliverables: identify the approval, selection or investment decision and the documents or evidence that support it.
- Coverage: specify workflow count, interviews, languages, locations and systems, including explicit exclusions.
- Method and access: state which findings are verified, sampled or based on management representations.
- Acceptance: agree what makes each deliverable complete and how factual corrections and revisions are handled.
- Commercial basis: show fees, payment milestones, applicable taxes, expenses, assumptions and change-control rules.
- Reuse and exit: clarify the buyer's rights to use the work with another delivery team and receive editable outputs.
Ask for a redacted example of the proposed output or a contents structure. It is easier to assess a dependency register with named evidence fields than a promise of a comprehensive strategy. Avoid demanding another customer's confidential documents as proof; a representative blank artifact can demonstrate structure without exposing them.
When a fixed fee, retainer or smaller diagnostic makes sense
A fixed fee is easier to compare when the decision and evidence boundary are stable. Continuing advisory support may suit a changing portfolio, but the agreement still needs capacity limits, priorities and review points. A small diagnostic can resolve enough uncertainty to scope the next stage; it should not become a compulsory sequence of purchases with no meaningful right to stop. Compare retainer and fixed-price terms and the broader engagement models.
Implementation credits require special attention. A credit may reduce the combined bill, yet it can also influence supplier selection. Compare the advice as a standalone purchase, the total delivery proposition and the exit rights separately. Open for AI also builds systems; buyers can request a clearly bounded advisory scope and clarify any later delivery role before accepting a proposal.
Keep consulting fees separate from the transformation budget
The advisory invoice does not cover every subsequent obligation. Data remediation, integration, employee time, user support, security review and ongoing operations may sit elsewhere. Use the Saudi transformation cost model for the whole programme and the consulting ROI framework to evaluate the advice itself. This separation prevents a small discovery purchase from being presented as the total investment required.
For an agentic AI consulting enquiry, prepare the decision you need, the workflows and business units involved, the deadline and available evidence. A redacted process example and an honest list of access constraints are more useful than an unsupported target price. Request a scoped consulting proposal so that the proposed work, buyer responsibilities and commercial terms can be assessed together.
FAQ
Your questions, answered.
How much does an AI readiness assessment cost in Saudi Arabia?
There is no reliable universal fee for every assessment. Public starting prices refer to particular supplier offers with different evidence depth and coverage. Request a quotation that names the workflows, interviews, systems, data inspection and decision outputs. Compare internal staff effort and excluded specialist work alongside the supplier fee before setting a budget.
Why can two AI consulting proposals differ so much in price?
They may include different amounts of investigation, senior review, stakeholder coordination or follow-through. One may assume that your team prepares all evidence while another undertakes that work. Put both proposals against the same decision and acceptance criteria, then ask each supplier to identify omissions and assumptions. A more expensive presentation is not automatically a more complete assessment.
Does an AI consulting quotation include software implementation?
Only when the written scope expressly includes it. Advisory outputs can define requirements and a delivery sequence without producing a working application. Identify separately any prototype, integration, licence, production release or operating support. Ask which outputs remain useful if your organisation selects a different implementation partner after the consulting engagement.
Should an AI advisory fee include VAT and travel?
The proposal should state the treatment of applicable taxes, travel and other expenses rather than leaving the buyer to infer it. Use the same basis when comparing offers, and have finance confirm the tax treatment for the actual contracting arrangement. Separately show fees for third-party tools and any expenses requiring advance approval.
Is an assessment credited against implementation automatically better value?
A credit may improve the combined price if you select that supplier for sound reasons. It does not prove that its assessment or implementation is the best fit. Compare the standalone advice, the combined delivery scope and the cost of switching. Confirm whether the credit changes your rights to reuse documents or choose another supplier.
What should we send to obtain a useful consulting quote?
Send the decision you need to make, a short description of the affected workflow, business units and systems, the decision deadline and the evidence you can provide. Include known access restrictions and who can participate. Redact sensitive operational examples; detailed production data should wait until an appropriate scope and handling arrangement are agreed.
